Dorothy Thompson Garlough
RDH, MPA, YES
Dorothy Garlough began her life journey in Kentucky on a 1000-acre farm with nine brothers and sisters. Her rural American roots have taught her about the value of hard work, collaboration and relationships…always respecting and valuing others. She has been a student of healthy relationships all her life, and learned most about healthy relationships from having been in an unhealthy one. Living in fear for ten years has had the effect of her determining her purpose in life…to help others consciously create tomorrow…starting today.
Dorothy graduated from Western Kentucky University as a dental hygienist in 1975 and obtained her license to practice clinically in Canada in 1977. Ten years later, when she became a single mom, she also became a business owner, working simultaneously as a hygienist and a photographer. Needing income and balance in her life inspired her to open her studio, gaining experience in both business and employee management. Her photographic images and her subsequent earning of her Masters of the Photographic Arts have been recognized nationally by the Professional Photographers of Canada.
In 2013, Dorothy decided to pursue a dream that she had explored early in her career, before life fell apart. She closed her photographic studio and left clinical hygiene to begin her work as a creative change facilitator through her business, Innovation Advancement. Her forward thinking programs and engaging facilitation process help to inspire motivation and ‘buy in’ with teams. Her mandate is to establish environments not only where teams can flourish, but also autonomy and creativity. The result is that teams are united and customers are delighted. Her strategic, straight forward, and humorous approach will inspire your leadership and staff to take action and get results.
Additionally, Dorothy’s is a yoga instructor, obtaining her Yoga Exercise Specialist designation in 2009. As an early adopter (she has practiced yoga for over forty years), she knows of both the physical and mental gains of yoga. Today she teaches yoga regularly and incorporates yogic elements in all of her presentations as well as offering mind/body/spirit retreats. With science now supporting the health benefits of yoga, Dorothy is a living example of the value of this ancient practice.
Dorothy has written over 70 articles for multiple international magazines and has been a regular contributor to RDH Magazine since 2013. These platforms are supporting Dorothy as a thought-leader with a fresh approach. Additionally, she has received notoriety by delivering “Edutainment” i.e. education delivered in an entertaining way, for multiple international cruise lines. Her trajectory for speaking engagements has been increasing rapidly since being on the "big stage" at Chicago's 2017 RDH UOR convention. Dorothy is once again having to consciously create tomorrow today to achieve the balance in her life.

Dorothy's yogic influence is her differentiation
Dorothy’s life vision is to help others consciously Create Tomorrow Today. Helping others to recognize that tomorrow is simply yesterday’s dreams and that you are the creator of your life, is Dorothy’s highest calling!
Leading teams to disrupt old mental models and create new patterns of engagement is the sweet nectar that Dorothy drinks daily.
Dorothy believes (and science proves) that yoga is not only good for the brain and body but it is also good for the spirit. Dorothy was introduced to yoga early and has incorporated it into her life for over a generation. For the last ten years, she has shared the gift of yoga through her designation, (YES -yoga exercise specialist) and her programs. Dorothy believes we can consciously create a better tomorrow from a state of calmness.
